Virtual Furniture – Unlimited Reality

Daro are a leading name in the UK for Rattan furniture in the home and garden. Their experience has span more than 40 years and in 2017 Daro introduced the new Fresco range to their portfolio.

Having been introduced to White Crow Studios at The January Furniture show it was the first time Daro decided to explore the CGI route for a new product launch. Due to the nature of their products marketing materials are worked on during the winter periods ready for the summer season. The great British weather proves to be one of the greatest factors to overcome along with location constraints when doing traditional photoshoots, therefore Daro decided to turn to CGI for the launch of their new summer range.

 “We were launching a new range of our outdoor furniture early this year and needed to have a nice sunny and inviting outdoor images for our brochure. However conventional summer photography is not possibly in February, so we commissioned Whitecrow Studios to replicate the products for us. Despite the complexities of our product Whitecrow manage to produce very realistic imagery of the products with both staff, stockists and consumers believing that are real photographs”

A set of 4 photorealistic images were commissioned in different garden CGI backdrop settings, making them flexible to create future variations with different weaves and fabrics.

The Daro furniture collection has to be one of our biggest challenges for White Crow to date. The complex woven weave proved to be extremely difficult and time consuming to model in 3D. The product has many different curves which needed to be replicated exactly to match the actual product. Although we were supplied with overall dimensions much of the modelling structures were done by eye from photographic references.
