OLD COURSE HOTEL ST ANDREWS SET FOR A MAKEOVER

The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa unveils refurbishment plans that will see the Five Red Star Resort of St Andrews, Scotland, undertake a total bedroom upgrade and spa extension complete with a new lap pool and extensive gym.

The Hotel has already been presented with a number of prestigious awards from ‘Scotland’s Best Golf Hotel’ at the World Golf Awards to Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence. Reopening in April 2017, it will take the guest experience to the next level, boasting stunning new bedroom interiors as well as new windows, lighting and air conditioning.

The exciting refurbishment plans which started at the beginning of January, have a scheduled completion in mid-April. Guest experience remains at the forefront and as a result, the Hotel will be closed to visitors during this time. Open during the entire period will be The Jigger Inn and Ham's Hame restaurants and The Duke's Golf Course and Clubhouse.

• From the 3 AA Rosette-awarded Road Hole to award-winning afternoon tea, The Old Course Hotel offers an outstanding collection of bars and restaurants to suit all including the Sands Grill for relaxed dining and The Jigger Inn, fondly referred to as “the town’s best 19th hole.”

• Kohler Waters Spa is the first of its kind outside the USA and provides a truly world-class spa experience, from the Highland Fling signature treatment to the new H2O Inspiration water treatment. It features a 20-metre pool, relaxation area and rooftop hot tub.

• The Old Course Hotel knows many of its guests are here for one thing: golf. On site is a golf shop stocked with equipment and apparel, plus a staff of golf concierges. While they can't book guaranteed tee times on the Old Course, they will assist you in booking rounds on any course in town, as well as enter you in the daily ballot for the Old. The concierge also provides a free shuttle service for guests to the town's golf courses - or simply walk to the first tee of the Old Course, New Course or Jubilee - all about a par 4 in distance away.

• The hotel also boasts its own championship course, The Duke's, which is St Andrews' only heath land course and was voted a Top 100 Golf Course in the UK by Golf World. Originally built by former British Open champion Peter Thomson, Herb Kohler commissioned Tim Liddy, who worked with him at Whistling Straits alongside Pete Dye, for an extensive redesign. While a heathland a few miles off the coast, the views from the 18th green and clubhouse, as well as the seventh tee, offer their own beautiful views of the town's skyline and the sea.
