Four Seasons is set to open luxury villas adjacent to the historic Formentor Hotel in Mallorca. Designed by renowned architecture and decoration firms, this project will feature spacious homes connected to the hotel’s services, providing an exclusive, high-end residential experience.
The new villas, situated on the same grounds as the hotel, will vary in size from 250 to 600 m². While prices have yet to be announced, these properties are anticipated to attract significant interest due to the increasing demand for this type of luxury accommodation.
The project has been assigned to the Mallorcan architecture firm SCT, led by Ángel Sánchez-Cantalejo and Vicente Tomás. The interior design will be managed by the renowned French firm Gilles & Boissier, known for its work with prestigious brands like the Ritz and Mandarin Oriental, according to real estate sources.
The Formentor Hotel, established in 1929 by Argentine Adan Diehl, was acquired in 2020 by fund manager Emin for over €100 million. Following the purchase, Estudio Lamela, which previously collaborated on the design of the first Four Seasons in Spain in Madrid, initiated an extensive renovation project. The hotel, featuring 110 rooms and suites, partially reopened in August but will not operate at full capacity until next year, when all restaurants and the spa are expected to be fully functional. Prices, which were around €1,200 per night this summer, could double by the next season.
Formentor has long been a luxury destination for celebrities, hosting notable figures like Winston Churchill, Charles Chaplin, Audrey Hepburn and the Dalai Lama. It also served as the honeymoon spot for Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco. Additionally, the hotel was home to the prestigious Formentor literary prize, promoted by Camilo José Cela, which gathered prominent writers from Spain and Latin America.
These new villas will mark the second Four Seasons branded residences in Spain, following the success of the first in Madrid, where the chain sold 22 apartments with prices reaching up to €11 million.
