English Model David Gandy Selects Artisanal Vogue Luxe Range From Bakehouse Kitchens

David Gandy, renowned for his modelling and creative career which has seen him partner with some of the world’s most premium brands, has unveiled the renovation of his Richmond home, featuring a bespoke kitchen, pantry and boot room from Bakehouse Kitchens.

Specialising in manufacturing custom-made kitchens from its base in the Georgian town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, Bakehouse Kitchens was the ultimate choice for Gandy who was keen to preserve and elevate the original Georgian architecture in his family home.

The Kitchen

Describing the kitchen as the heart of the home where the family spends most of their time together, Gandy opted for a fully bespoke kitchen from the brand’s artisanal range, Vogue Luxe. With an emphasis on combining raw materials, texture and traditional construction methods with contemporary design influences, the kitchen offers the perfect blend of modern living while complementing the origins of the house.

The kitchen features Georgian inspired panelling on the cabinet doors which is a nod to a feature which is seen throughout the rest of David’s home. The kitchen space evokes a sense of calm with hues of Farrow & Ball’s Ammonite paired with Neolith Abu Dhabi surfaces and hints of walnuts. With the distinctively opulent look and feel of marble, the surfaces offer superior characteristics including being heat and scratch resistance, helping Gandy balance the requirements of a family-friendly kitchen with his keen eye for design details and style.

The aim was to create a sense of timeless sophistication with a design that was sympathetic to traditional Georgian detailing and joinery methods, pared with contemporary design and fixtures. As such, the detailing within David’s Vogue Luxe kitchen was meticulously considered and specified based on proportions and aesthetics agreed between David Gandy and Bakehouse Kitchen’s creative director, Alan Ramm. The cabinetry features bespoke mouldings with rebated handles, all manufactured at the company’s workshop in Rutland.

The Pantry

Bakehouse Kitchens’ Creative Director Alan Ramm and Gandy worked together to create a complementary design through to the working pantry, selecting the timeless Original Bakehouse Shaker collection for this functional space. The cabinetry is painted in Farrow & Ball shade Purbeck Stone giving the space a classic feel.

Together, they created a space which would harbour the day-to-day clutter that comes with a family of four, allowing the kitchen to retain a sense of tranquillity.

The Boot Room

Bakehouse Kitchens also worked with David to create a striking, yet functional boot room. Featuring Bakehouse Kitchen’s inframe design, the Boot Room allows everyone in the family a place for their outdoor wear. The cabinetry and walls are painted in Farrow & Ball Green Smoke, taking inspiration from the nearby green spaces outside while helping to create order and organisation within.

Gandy, who resides at the Richmond property with his partner and two daughters, comments: “It was important to us that the renovation paid tribute to the beautiful origins of this Georgian property and with the kitchen being the main part of our house, we were keen to strike a balance between the symmetry of the architecture and being sensitive to the time period while creating a space that works for us. Partnering with Bakehouse Kitchens on this was a pleasure as they took the design nuances and made something special; it’s entirely bespoke and just what we were after – the calming look and feel I get here is just the same as when I’m out walking the dog. It’s home.”

The Vogue Luxe range is now available from Bakehouse Kitchens, specialists in bespoke kitchen design and manufacturing, with a starting price of £35,000 (excluding worktops and appliances), From £65,000 with worktops and appliances included.
