Chef Christopher Davey left the UK 2011 to become the private chef for the British Ambassador in the Dominican Republic where he grew his passion for food and food styling working for 3 different food and lifestyle magazines designing and writing recipes in his spare time. In 2014 Chris left Santo Domingo and moved to Miami where he worked on Fisher Island, Florida's ultimate private island resort destination. During this time he facilitated food for private events and catering for the Vanderbilt Mansion as well as working as a chef de partie at Porto Cervo. Chris also worked closely with Chef Robert Curry while he was developing Auberge Residences in Miami and was invited to move to Napa Valley to work in his Michelin Star restaurant Auberge du Soleil which he did in 2016.
During these years, Chris found himself constantly comparing the produce he was using to that originating from his home in the Cotswolds and recognised that he had been spoiled by the abundance of locally sourced, fresh ingredients that were so readily available back in the UK. This gave him the nickname "The Cotswold Guy", which, when he eventually moved back to The Cotswolds in 2017, was the obvious choice to name his new business based on his belief that the best food starts with the best ingredients.
The Cotswold Guy started as a bespoke food distribution service based in the heart of the Cotswolds, providing fantastic locally sourced and seasonal ingredients and giving customers the quality, consistency and choice to create the perfect dish. During the pandemic, the business grew to include private catering, creating pre-prepared meals for clients to cook at home, facilitating estate shoot dinners and in 2021 the first farm shop location opened in Guiting Power in collaboration with Pusey Farm. The Cotswold Guy is now a one stop shop for professionals and home cooks alike and can either help source the best ingredients or use them to create a dish for a private event or dinner party.
