From an early age, Natasha of TashaFelice focused on painting and drawing, with her work composed mainly of still lives and portraits. The components of creating a composition were drilled into her head during her adolescence, enabling her to breakdown the natural and manmade landscapes. The buildings, cars, trees, etc are broken down into basic lines, values, shapes, textures, foregrounds and backgrounds. In her jewelry, she replicates this simplified idea of what fills our space aims to make pieces that appear different from every angle.
For her current line, Negative Space, she started with the basic shapes of circle, oval, square, triangle, diamond and created multiples with casting. She then will manipulate each shape to combine and construct mini wearable sculptures that can make the origin unrecognizable. An example is the Peeled Petal Ring and “the Maca.” They look very different but both come from the diamond shape. Each piece of jewelry is soldered, fabricated and polished by Natasha whether it is a production piece or one of a kind.
She started metalsmithing at the University of Michigan and since has moved to Miami, finding her place in a studio called Jewelry Creations Workshop where she also teaches classes. She has participated in numerous shows in the U.S. including the Coconut Grove Arts Festival.
TashaFelice has been seen in British Vogue, Vanity Fair UK, Tatler and World of Interiors.
