Dominic McKenzie Architects (DMA) is an award-winning architectural practice based in London. The practice specialises in producing beautiful and imaginative residential architecture in sensitive Conservation Area / Listed building settings.
Recent projects include Eidolon House in Highgate Village - believed to be London’s first mirror-clad house. The project won ‘Best One-Off House’ in the Sunday Times British Homes Awards and has since made numerous TV appearances.
In nearby Hampstead Village two projects have recently gained planning permission:
The first, currently under construction, is a renovation and extension of a large detached Victorian house on Willoughby Road. Whilst carefully restoring Victorian internal details, DMA has also worked with excellent interior, lighting and garden designers to ensure the end result will feel contemporary. To the rear of the house a new bronze-clad extension will create an incredible garden room, with a private office space above.
The second project is a new-build house at New End in the centre of Hampstead Village. A tight complex site, DMA has achieved planning permission for a three-bed, four-storey house with integrated car port, double-height dining room, private garden and top roof terrace. The house has been carefully designed to fit with its context but also deliver a wow-factor in terms of internal spaces.
Other projects are dotted all over London - from Islington, to Kensington and Chelsea to Wimbledon. The practice’s name is ever growing: in 2016 Wallpaper magazine selected DMA as one of the ‘world’s best emerging practices’ in its ‘Architects Directory’. And in 2017 Elle Decoration magazine referred to Dominic McKenzie as ‘The Name to Know’. Dominic McKenzie says, ‘Producing great work is what it’s all about. We always work closely with our clients through all stages of projects, from initial designs to construction, to produce something that is really special and unique, and also highly tuned to its context.’
